What WKYC+ is for

WKYC+ is a news app from the WKYC station in Cleveland, Ohio, published by TEGNA. It is aimed at people who want local news and weather for the Cleveland area on their phone. The developer also adds sports and entertainment content, so it can serve as a general local channel rather than a news feed alone.

The content is limited to the Cleveland, OH area and the teams and events around it. Anyone following Cleveland news, weather or local sports is the obvious audience.

Breaking news, local video and weather

The app carries breaking news that the developer says affects viewers and their families in the area. It also includes video coverage of local events, so stories can be watched rather than only read.

Local weather for the Cleveland, OH area sits alongside the news. The listing presents the news and weather together as the core of the app.

Local sports and entertainment

Sports coverage covers local professional and college teams. The listing describes this as one of the app's main areas, alongside news.

The developer also lists entertainment content for lighter viewing. The listing does not describe the entertainment content in more detail.

Checking stories with VERIFY

VERIFY is WKYC's news verification program, built into the app to help viewers tell what is real from what is fake. The developer describes VERIFY as award-winning.

The listing presents VERIFY as a named part of the app, so readers can look for it by name within the app's coverage.
