Crossword puzzles ask you to fill a grid from clues, while word search asks you to find hidden words in a block of letters. Word connect is the third format the listing names, and it sits alongside the other two as one of the game's main puzzle types.
Because all three are inside one app, the same vocabulary is tested in different ways. A player who prefers grids can stay with crosswords, and one who likes scanning letters can move to word search.
The listing says the puzzles are meant to enrich vocabulary and improve spelling, and that they exercise the brain and develop thinking. It also claims they help improve IQ, though that is the developer's claim and not something the listing measures.
The practice comes from solving the puzzles themselves. Each level asks for words, so the learning is built into play rather than delivered as separate drills.
The app advertises more than 3000 levels of word puzzles. The listing describes the experience as a free word search and word connect journey, and Google Play shows no price for the app.
It has been installed more than 10,000,000 times on Google Play, according to the listing. Its free status and level count are the developer's own descriptions.
