What the app covers on a trip
Yesim is an eSIM app for people travelling abroad. It supplies mobile data for a chosen destination and, separately, a virtual phone number with international calling. The data and the calls are two different products inside one app, so a traveller can use either or both.
The developer lists coverage in over 200 destinations, covering cities and rural areas alike. The app is aimed at anyone who would otherwise pay roaming rates or depend on public Wi-Fi while away from home.
Buying eSIM data for a destination
Data is sold as eSIM plans, so no physical SIM card is involved. The listing describes fixed plans, which carry a set amount of data, and unlimited plans that run for up to 365 days.
A trial plan gives 500 MB for €0.50. The developer says it can be used once in each of 48 countries, so it suits a short test trip or a first look before buying a larger plan.
Virtual numbers and receiving calls
A virtual number lets you make and receive international calls through the app. Incoming calls are delivered inside Yesim, including when the app is closed or running in the background, so you do not need the number tied to a physical SIM.
The listing notes that call availability depends on the country, the destination and local regulations. Emergency calls are not supported, so the app cannot be used to reach emergency services.
Paying for calls and tracking minutes
Calls are paid for with minutes packages. You choose a package, watch how many minutes you have used, and top up the balance when it runs low.
Because the usage tracking sits in the same app as the number and the data plans, a traveller can check calling and data use in one place.
