Game design the developer ties to scientific studies

What Sholah is and who it suits

Sholah is an Arabic brain training app published by Elektron Labs. It is built for short, repeated sessions of puzzle-style games aimed at exercising memory, focus and thinking speed. The Play listing reports more than 5,000,000 installs and a 4.41 average from 268,002 ratings.

It suits Arabic speakers who want a regular mental workout without setting up their own exercises. The games themselves are the main content, so the app is mostly about repeating them over time.

Daily workouts built around chosen skills

Sholah generates a daily exercise for each user, based on the mental skills that user wants to develop. The listing describes this as a personal daily session rather than a fixed sequence for everyone.

Because the workout follows the skills you pick, the games you see each day depend on those choices. The listing does not describe how the choices change the daily mix beyond this.

The game library: memory, attention and reaction speed

The library holds more than 40 games grouped into five cognitive areas. The listing names memory, attention and problem solving among them, and says reaction speed is trained too. Each area can be practised through its games.

The developer states that the games are based on scientific studies. The listing does not go into how each game was designed or tested.

Measuring progress with an IQ score and comparisons

Sholah offers an IQ figure, which the listing presents as a way to find out where your brain currently stands. You can compare that figure with the results of other users.

The listing frames the score as part of an ongoing process of tracking your development. It does not describe how the score is calculated.
