ดัมมี่แลนด์ Dummy Land puts several Thai card games in a single app and plays them online. The main games are Dummy, Pokdeng, Kaeng and Somsip, with slots and a few other card games alongside them.
The developer describes Dummy as suited to players with fairly high reasoning skill, while Pokdeng is pitched at players of any age because its rules are short. Both are ways to spend a few quick rounds rather than long sessions.
A Dummy round follows four kinds of move: drawing a card, picking one up, laying cards down and depositing cards. The round ends when a player is left holding one card, or when the deck has been dealt out completely.
Because each move changes what the other players can do, the developer frames Dummy as a game of anticipating the table. Players who want a quick, familiar card game will find the core loop in the first few hands.
In Pokdeng each player is dealt two cards. A total of 8 or 9 is called pok and beats every other hand. After the deal, the other players decide whether to take another card, then everyone shows their hands and the highest total or the strongest card type wins.
Kaeng is a traditional Thai game. Players take turns drawing and discarding the highest-scoring card, and they collect points when a discard matches the card before it. When someone shouts Kaeng, every player shows their hand, and the lowest total wins.
Somsip, short for ไพ่ผสมสิบ, is won by matching cards and working out totals. The developer lists it alongside the other games without describing its scoring in detail.
The app also includes slots and a nine-card game called เก้าเก, so the card games sit next to a machine-style game in the same place. The developer says all of these can be played any time, online.
