What the RZD distance learning app is for
РЖД СДО is the mobile app for the distance learning system run by Russian Railways (ОАО «РЖД»), published by Mirapolis LLC. It is aimed at people who study through that system and want to carry on when they are away from a desk.
The developer describes it as a way to keep learning at any time and in any place. In practice that means the course and test work you would normally do in the web system is available on a smartphone or tablet, and the same account view of your progress comes with it.
Taking electronic courses and tests
The core of the app is the set of electronic courses assigned through the system. You open a course, work through its material and sit its tests from the same screen.
Because the tests run inside the app, you can pick up a course on a train platform or during a break without going back to a computer. The listing does not describe any offline mode, so assume you need a connection while working.
Tracking progress, results and notifications
The app shows how far you have got through each course and what you scored on its tests. You can check results without reopening each course one by one.
Push notifications from the system also reach the app, so you hear about new assignments or updates without opening it first.
News, events and the media library
The app carries the news and announcements that come out of the learning system, so course updates and notices appear alongside your study material. It also gives information on the programmes of events and the in-person sessions tied to training.
A media library holds learning materials that are not part of a single course. These are useful reference files you can open when a topic comes up in your studies.
