What this manga app covers and who it suits
マガポケ is the manga app Kodansha publishes for its Shonen Magazine line. It gathers chapters from Weekly Shonen Magazine and Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, and also carries titles from Gekkan Shonen Magazine, Sirius, Young Magazine, Morning and Afternoon.
It suits readers who follow ongoing series week to week and want to read them on a phone. The developer's own pitch is aimed at people who want the latest chapters early, free daily reading, or new series before they become widely known.
Reading the newest chapters on release day
The developer says ongoing series such as Blue Lock, Shangri-La Frontier, Hajime no Ippo, Kanojo okarishimasu and Reincarnated as a Slime go live at midnight on the day the print issue goes on sale. It describes the app as the only place to read these latest chapters at that point.
Chapters of current series are available in the app as they come out, so a reader can keep up with a serialization without waiting for the next printed issue.
Free chapters and older titles
The developer lists free chapters that are added every day, so there is a steady supply of new material to read without paying per chapter. Those free chapters span several of Kodansha's magazines rather than one.
Beyond current releases, the app holds a back catalogue of earlier well-known manga. A reader can start an older classic or catch up on a series that finished some time ago.
Original serials that appear only in the app
The app carries its own original serials, which the developer says are not published anywhere else. Named examples on the listing include WIND BREAKER, Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku, Mii-chan to Yamada-san, Guilty Circle and FAIRY TAIL 100 YEARS QUEST.
These are useful for anyone who wants to read newer series from the start. The developer presents them as the place to find works that have not yet become widely read.
