Four serials in four days
Kodansha's Magapoke manga app put out a run of new series last week, one a day for four days. The first is Geek Crown, the new work from Shinobu Ohtaka. The app's official account billed it as the latest from the creator of "Orient" and "Magi".
Anyone who reads on Magapoke now has four new titles to start from chapter one. They cover a political thriller, a dungeon fantasy, a romantic comedy and an isekai romance.
The official Magapoke account on X announced the line-up on 27 October through the Weekly Shonen Magazine issue 48 column "Miyajima ga Oshirase Shimasu". It said new series were starting one after another that week.
One new title a day
The schedule ran Tuesday to Friday. According to Magapoke's post, Geek Crown opened on 27 October. Its premise is about exposing a traitorous officer hidden inside a fight over the royal succession.
On 28 October came Muto no Ossan, Jitsu wa Rasudan Kouryakuzumi, which the account sums up as an unremarkable middle-aged man clearing dungeons with his bare hands. Kinpatsu Ojousama to Shimoneta Danshi started on 29 October. It is a comedy about an exchange student, Beth, who does not get the narrator's dirty jokes.
The fourth, Shuran Reijou no Yarakashi, began on 30 October. In it a noblewoman drinks too much before an arranged marriage and wakes up with her cold fiancé in a dragon's nest. The account calls it a fantasy romance full of drunks.

New series show up inside the app alongside its existing serials. Each opens at its first chapter, and the official account links to each new title as it launches.
Free chapters, paid magazines
Magapoke is free to download. Kodansha says it adds free chapters every day, and that its lead serials go live at midnight on the day the print magazine goes on sale.
Readers who want whole magazines pay for subscriptions, billed through their Google account. Each magazine needs its own subscription. According to Kodansha's listing, Weekly Shonen Magazine and Young Magazine cost 1,080 yen a month each. Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, Monthly Shonen Magazine and Monthly Shonen Sirius are sold in six-month blocks.
| Magazine | Term | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Shonen Magazine | 1 month | 1,080 yen |
| Young Magazine | 1 month | 1,080 yen |
| Bessatsu Shonen Magazine | 6 months | 3,200 yen |
| Monthly Shonen Magazine | 6 months | 3,000 yen |
| Monthly Shonen Sirius | 6 months | 3,800 yen |
Subscriptions renew automatically unless renewal is switched off more than 24 hours before the period ends, and a period already paid for cannot be cancelled. Some content in the print and digital magazines is left out of the app subscription, including some manga, gravure, articles and extras. A first monthly Weekly Shonen Magazine subscription also unlocks the previous seven issues, the developer says.
A busy end to October
The new serials arrived in the same week as the latest magazine. Weekly Shonen Magazine's 2026 issue 48 went live in the app on 28 October, with new chapters of Rent-A-Girlfriend and Shangri-La Frontier among its contents.
Collected volumes are moving too. Kodansha's release calendar lists Hiro Mashima's FAIRY TAIL RE:FANTASIA on 16 October under the Magapoke label, and the first volume of Hyakki Yakyou on 29 October. The Shonen Magazine site lists new volumes of Irregulars and Idolatry for 17 November.
Campaigns are running as well. On 1 November the official account said every chapter of Kimi to Sakura no Hanataba wo except the newest is free until 7 November.
The latest app update, version 6.12.1, fixes bugs, according to the developer's notes.
Kodansha's home for Magazine manga
Magapoke is Kodansha's official app for Weekly Shonen Magazine and Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. It also carries series from Monthly Shonen Magazine, Sirius, Young Magazine, Morning and Afternoon. Alongside the current serials it carries finished series, plus originals the publisher says are exclusive to the app, such as WIND BREAKER and The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity.
The service turned 11 this year. MANTANWEB reported that Magapoke reached its 11th anniversary on 1 August, and Kodansha marked it by making 11 popular titles free for a limited period.
Earlier, in late June, Oricon reported a limited-time "Magapoke Best Eleven" feature. It let readers pick 11 favourite series, line them up in a football formation and share the result as an image.
