Waste collection calendar for the county Ammerland
By Mei-Lin Chua

Abfall Ammerland builds a personal calendar of waste collection dates for the Landkreis Ammerland, a county in Germany. It is aimed at households in the county who want to know when their bins are due.
The app shows the current collection dates for the address you choose. It can also put those dates into your Google Calendar, so they sit alongside your other appointments.
The current collection dates for your area are listed in the app itself, so you can look them up without opening a calendar. The listing describes the calendar as personal, meaning the dates depend on the street you set up.
Because the schedule is tied to your location, the dates shown are the ones that apply to you rather than a general county timetable.
Collection dates can be entered into your Google Calendar. The listing describes this as an optional step, and it is the only place the app writes to a calendar.
With automatic entry turned on, the app stores your calendar's identifier along with the identifiers Google assigns to the entries it has created. It does not read your existing appointments and does not save them anywhere outside your device.
The listing gives two examples of changes that affect the calendar: a different street, or a switch to a four-weekly collection rhythm. When either happens, the app can remove the entries it previously added so the calendar does not show outdated dates.
Only the entries the app created are affected. Other events in the calendar stay as they are.
To remove old entries later, the app needs to remember which events it added. According to the listing, it keeps your calendar identifier and the event identifiers on an external server for this purpose.
This storage is only used when automatic calendar entry is in use. If you add dates manually, the listing does not describe any server storage for them.
The build we hold is Abfall Ammerland 2.21 (APK) for Android 6.0 and up.
