The app listing, the version table and the download step are laid out by this site’s stylesheet. With stylesheets switched off, or blocked before they arrive, none of that layout exists, so the page is not shown.

What the app is for

Advanced English Dictionary is a reference app for looking up English words. The developer pitches it at moments like reading a classic novel or drafting a work email, when a single word is needed and a print dictionary is not to hand.

It is aimed at students, writers and anyone reading English on the move. The listing says its offline mode is meant for places where the connection is slow, such as a daily commute.

Looking up definitions and synonyms offline

The core of the app is a dictionary that stores its definitions on the device, so a lookup does not depend on a network connection. The listing describes a thesaurus that works the same way, offline, for finding synonyms when a word does not fit.

The developer states that the app holds hundreds of thousands of meanings and synonyms. The listing presents the dictionary and thesaurus as tools for academic writing and for building a clear understanding of unfamiliar words.

Voice translation and reading documents with the camera

Voice translation is listed as a feature for international communication. The listing does not say which languages it covers, so the scope of that feature is not clear from the listing alone.

The camera scanner is aimed at reading documents on the spot. Pointing the camera at printed text is the use the listing describes, though it gives no detail on how the text is handled afterwards.

Practising vocabulary with a daily quiz

The daily quiz is described as a way to test how much vocabulary you already know. It works alongside the Word of the Day, which presents a new word to learn each day.

Together these two features turn the dictionary into something to open regularly, not only when a word is unknown. The listing presents both as ways of growing vocabulary over time.
