Amex Australia

What the app is for

Amex Australia is the American Express mobile app for Android, aimed at people who already hold an American Express card and use the Australian online account. It handles the account side of the card: checking your spending and rewards, paying the bill, and managing the card itself.

The developer presents it as a way to reach Membership benefits from a phone. Most of the functions below sit behind the account login.

Signing in and securing your account

You can sign in with your existing americanexpress.com.au login, or register for American Express Online Services from inside the app. Once set up, biometric login gives quick access without retyping your credentials.

Multi-factor authentication adds a second check when you log into online services. The app also lets you retrieve a forgotten User ID and reset your Password.

Paying your bill and managing your card

You can pay your bill, enrol in Direct Debit, and view and activate your Amex PayID. If you hold more than one card, you can add, remove and manage them all from the same account.

Newly issued cards can be activated and given a PIN in the app. A damaged, lost or stolen card can be replaced, and a card you have misplaced can be temporarily locked while you look for it.

Checking your PIN

The app lets you view, change or unlock your card PIN. These options are grouped with the other card controls, so the PIN can be handled without contacting the card provider by phone, as far as the listing describes.

Membership Rewards points and Amex Offers

The Rewards section shows your Membership Rewards points balance and lists ways to use them. A referral option lets you recommend American Express to friends.

Amex Offers, which the listing describes as available to individual cardholders, can be explored from the app.
