Amex Hong Kong

What the Amex Hong Kong app covers

Amex Hong Kong is the mobile app for American Express card accounts held in Hong Kong. It is aimed at cardholders who want to look at their account, handle payments and check rewards from a phone without calling or logging in to a website.

It works with your existing account and gives access to card transactions, rewards balances, card benefits and account details. It also covers several cards under one login.

Checking transactions and paying your bill

The app shows recent card transactions, including ones that are still pending, so you can see charges before they post. You can pay your card bill from the same screen.

Search covers the last 7 months. You can search by merchant name and narrow results to a date range. Results include both credits and debits on your basic card and on supplementary cards.

If you hold more than one American Express card, you can access and manage each account from within the app.

Rewards, miles and cashback balances

The app tracks your Membership Rewards points, Asia Miles or cashback balance, depending on which programme your card earns. It also lists the benefits attached to your card.

If you are enrolled in the Membership Rewards programme, you can use your points to offset eligible transactions.

Freezing a lost card and recovering login details

You can freeze a card to stop in-store purchases if it is misplaced, and unfreeze it when you find it. Freezing does not close the account.

If you have forgotten your user ID or password, the app walks you through retrieving the ID and resetting the password.

Alerts and referring friends for rewards

You can turn on notifications for purchases, balance changes, spending tracking and payment reminders, so you hear about activity on the card without opening the app.

The app also lets you refer American Express cards to friends, with a reward for the referral.
