Amex México

What the Amex México app is for

Amex México is the official American Express app for Android, aimed at existing card members in Mexico who want to manage their account without visiting a branch or calling the bank. Everything in it is tied to an American Express account, so it is of use only to people who already hold one.

The listing presents it as a way to keep up with spending and rewards, look for offers, check the balance and pay bills, all from a single screen on the phone.

Checking balances, paying bills and tracking rewards

The app shows the current account balance and lets the user pay bills directly from it. Spending and rewards are listed together, so a cardholder can see what has been charged and what has been earned in one place.

Offers are also collected in the app. The listing describes them as a way to find deals available to the account holder, with no further detail on how they are chosen or redeemed.

PIN management, sign-in and locking a card

Users can sign in with a fingerprint or face scan, if the phone supports it. The app can also check the account PIN, change it or unlock it when it has been blocked.

Each card on the account can have its own PIN, chosen by the user. If a card goes missing, the user can switch it off from the app and switch it back on later, so a misplaced card can be disabled while the user looks for it.

Activating new cards and setting up the account

New cards are confirmed inside the app, and the listing describes a revised activation flow that also covers the initial setup of the account. This is the first thing a new cardholder would use, before the balance and bill features become relevant.
