Amex United Kingdom is the American Express app for Android, aimed at people with a UK American Express account. It gives you access to the account from a phone, covering what you owe, what you have spent and how you pay it off. You sign in with the same User ID and password you use on the American Express UK website, and the developer lists fingerprint login on supported devices.
The app shows your current balance and transactions that are still pending, along with your payment status. Past statements can be opened as PDF files. The developer also lists rewards redemption and offers within the app.
You can pay your bill by bank transfer using the Pay with Bank Transfer option. You can also set up a Direct Debit or edit an existing one from the app.
If you do not recognise a charge, you can raise a dispute in the app, and the developer says American Express will work with you to resolve it. Before a planned purchase, you can enter its amount and see whether it would be approved. The listing calls this checking your spending power.
Credit cards can be frozen and unfrozen at any time. You can view, change or unlock your card PIN from the app. New cards are confirmed through an activation process that also sets up your account. A card activated for Amex Pay can be used for faster payments in store, in the app and online.
