What the app measures while a phone charges

AmpereFlow is a battery charging monitor for Android. It reads what the phone is actually taking in while it is plugged in, instead of only showing the charging icon in the status bar. The listing says it covers live current and power, charging state, temperature, estimated health and capacity, and time remaining to 80% and 100%.

It is aimed at people who want to know what a charger or cable is really delivering. The listing presents it as one place for those readings, with graphs, charge history, widgets and alerts alongside.

Live current, power and fast charge detection

The live readout shows battery current in milliamps and an estimated charging power in watts, updating while the phone charges. Watts are estimated from the current reading, so they show the rate the battery is receiving rather than a measured wall-side figure.

Fast charging detection reports whether the device says it is charging normally, charging fast, or in another supported state. The listing notes that the result depends on what the device itself reports. Temperature is tracked during charging as well.

Comparing chargers, cables, power banks and USB ports

The charging speed test is meant to show which setup charges the phone fastest. You plug in each charger, cable, power bank or USB port in turn and compare the live readings. The listing says the comparison uses real battery data, not only the status icon.

This works for any combination you own, such as a fast charger with a short cable against a power bank on the same port. The readings are what you use to compare them.

Charge time, battery health and charge history

The time-to-full estimate gives an approximate time to reach 80% and to reach 100%, so you know roughly when the phone will be ready. The listing presents these as estimates, not guarantees.

Battery health and capacity are shown as estimates too. Detailed graphs and a charge history log let you look back at earlier sessions over time.

Widgets, alerts and the always-on charging display

Widgets put charging readings on the home screen, so you can check them without opening the app. Alerts notify you about charging events, as configured in the app.

The always-on charging display is built for AMOLED screens, where dark pixels stay off, and shows the charging readings while the phone sits on a charger with the screen on.
