What the suite is for and who it suits
Android Accessibility Suite is Google's collection of accessibility tools for using an Android device eyes-free or with a switch device. It bundles three separate apps: TalkBack, Select to Speak and Accessibility Menu. Each one is turned on from the Accessibility section of the device's Settings app.
The suite is built for people who rely on spoken output, on gestures instead of looking at the screen, or on switch access. Each of the three tools covers a different level of need, from full screen reading to a single large menu.
Hearing the screen read aloud with TalkBack
TalkBack is the full screen reader in the suite. It speaks what is on screen and lets you control the phone with gestures rather than direct taps. The listing says it also adjusts its announcements to your phone call status, so speech during a call is handled differently.
Select to Speak is narrower. You select items on the screen and the phone reads them aloud, which suits reading a single message, label or paragraph without turning on full screen reading.
Typing with a braille keyboard and gestures
TalkBack includes an on-screen braille keyboard, so text can be entered without looking at a standard keyboard layout. Gestures handle navigation across the interface, and the two work together for typing and moving around.
On Wear OS watches, TalkBack is available as a separate option for spoken feedback on the watch. TalkBack also sends notifications about its own updates when the user allows that notification permission.
Quick phone controls from the Accessibility Menu
Accessibility Menu puts a large on-screen menu over the phone. From it you can lock the phone, change volume and brightness, and take screenshots, with more controls listed beyond those.
It is aimed at people who want a few common actions within easy reach on screen instead of navigating through the regular settings and buttons.
