What the alarm is for
Anti Theft Alarm Protect Phone is an Android alarm app for the moment you set your phone down somewhere public. You switch the alarm on, leave the phone on a table or charger, and walk away. If the phone is then picked up or moved, it sounds an alarm at full volume.
The listing names home, work and travel as places it can be used. The developer's pitch centres on phones left unattended in public, which is the situation the rest of the app is built around.
Triggering the alarm on a table or charger
This is the main mode. The alarm goes off as soon as someone lifts the phone or moves it. The developer says the noise is meant to put off the person handling it and to draw attention from anyone nearby.
To use it, you arm the alarm with one tap, set the phone down and leave. The listing says no setup beyond that is needed, so the trigger is the same every time you use it.
Pocket Mode on buses and in crowds
Pocket Mode is a separate option for busy places. The listing gives buses and malls as examples. You turn it on before you put the phone away, and if the phone is pulled from a pocket or bag, the alarm sounds straight away.
The point, on the developer's account, is that a loud alarm at the moment of the snatch gives you a chance to see who has taken the phone and go after them.
Alarm sounds, light and vibration
You choose the alarm sound. The listing names a police siren, a church bell and a baby cry, and says there are others. Each plays at full volume.
You can also turn on flashlight blinking and vibration. Both are extra alerts, meant to make the alarm visible and noticeable to people nearby as well as to you. They are switched on separately, so you can use the sound alone if you prefer.
Arming, disarming and the PIN
Arming takes one tap. Disarming needs your PIN, and the listing says the alarm can be turned off in no other way. That means you need the PIN to stop it once it has started.
The developer's copy says the app can be tried for free.
