Audio Tag Editor - Mp3 Tagger

What the MP3 tag editor is for

Audio Tag Editor is an MP3 tagger and metadata editor for people who keep a large music collection in order. The developer names DJs, recording artists and music enthusiasts as its intended users. Its stated purpose is to make sure each track carries accurate information and can be found easily.

The listing describes the core job as editing the metadata stored inside MP3 files. That metadata is what music players and library software read when they show a track's title, artist and album.

Editing track tags and using the auto tagger

The auto tagger is the feature the listing gives the most weight to after manual editing. It is described as a way to get accurate music tags for a track, so you do not have to type each field yourself. The listing does not say which databases or sources the auto tagger draws on.

The app also edits tags by hand. Use it on files the auto tagger gets wrong or on tracks that have no tags at all.

Finding missing album art

The listing says the app can discover album art for tracks that are missing it. Cover images are one of the things that make a library look complete in a music player, and this feature is aimed at filling those gaps.

Organizing a music library with corrected tags

Once tags are filled in and corrected, the developer says the collection is easier to organize and access. Consistent artist, album and title fields are what let a music library sort and group tracks correctly.

The listing is aimed at users who manage files across a whole collection, so the same tagging work can be applied to many tracks rather than one at a time.
