What BATTLE IN HELL'S PARADISE is and who it suits

BATTLE IN HELL'S PARADISE is a role-playing game on Android, published by GOOD SMILE COMPANY, Inc. It is the first game adaptation of the Jigokuraku TV anime and is listed as a survival RPG. Play rates it Mature 17+.

The game is set on Shinsenkyo, the island from the anime, so it is aimed most directly at people who already know the series. Its story is presented as a new one, not a retelling of the anime's episodes.

Surviving the island of Shinsenkyo

Combat runs through the whole game. The listing says the battles continue day and night across the island, and that you face grotesque monsters along with the Tensen who rule the land. Your job is to gather allies and fight to survive.

Allies are the core of the progression. You recruit them as you move through the island, and each one fights alongside you in the party.

Story and voice acting for each ally

The game retells the anime's story with full voice acting. Each ally also gets a separate storyline written for the game, with full voice acting throughout.

Akira Kindaichi, series composer of the TV anime, supervised these stories, so the game's narrative is tied to the anime's writing.

Building a party and fighting with skills

You build your own party from the game's characters, who are criminals and executioners. Each brings a different set of skills into battle.

The listed skill styles are ninjutsu, Ittō-Ryū and tao. Battles are animated, with the animation supervised by MAPPA.
