What Blinkay is for and who it suits

Blinkay is a phone-based parking payment app for drivers who park in Blinkay zones. It replaces the street meter and the paper receipt on the dashboard with a session that lives in the app.

It suits anyone who parks in a Blinkay zone and would rather manage the session from a phone than walk back to a meter. The listing says a payment or extension takes under five seconds.

Paying for and extending parking sessions

You can start and pay for a parking session from wherever you are, without a meter or receipt. A session can be extended at any time from the app, and the listing says extensions can also run automatically, so a session keeps going without you opening the app again.

The automatic extension is the feature to check if your parking often runs past the time you first paid for. Manual extension covers the case where you want to add time only when needed.

Expiry alerts and paying parking fines

Blinkay sends a notification as your parking session nears its end, so you can extend it before it lapses. This is the main way the app is meant to prevent a fine.

If a session is not extended and a fine is issued, the listing says you can pay that fine through Blinkay. The fine payment is handled in the same app as the parking payment.

Session history, rates, zone availability and coupons

The app shows your parking sessions and payments in real time, along with the rates and promotional coupons available in a zone. Parking space availability for any Blinkay zone is listed as coming soon, so it is not yet part of the app.

Coupons from nearby retail stores and restaurants appear when you start a parking session in Blinkay. They are tied to where you have parked, not to a separate shopping feature.
