What Blocky Highway is and who plays it

Blocky Highway is a racing game from DogByte Games, the studio behind Offroad Legends and Blocky Roads. You drive through streams of traffic at full speed and dodge trains on the track. The art is voxel based, so the cars and scenery are built from blocks.

The easy endless mode is aimed at children, and the game carries a PEGI 3 rating. Adults can play the three standard modes for the score chase and the car collecting.

Racing through traffic and crashing for points

Points come from driving fast, picking up coins on the road and avoiding trains. The developer says you can also collect cars along the way to add to your progress.

Crash time lets you keep steering after a collision instead of stopping dead. Hitting traffic cars during that window adds to your score, so a crash can pay off.

Collecting vehicles and filling car collections

Coins and prize boxes give you new cars. The roster holds 55 vehicles, including a taxi, a tank, a UFO, a police car, an army 4x4, a dragster, a monster vehicle, a space shuttle, motorbikes and boats.

The cars are sorted into 11 collections, and completing a collection is the goal for that set. Opening prize boxes is how the developer says you fill them.

Game modes, worlds and missions

The game has three modes, along with an endless easy mode for kids. The four worlds carry desert, snow, green and water themes.

Missions add specific goals to the racing, and achievements mark milestones you reach over time.

Leaderboards, achievements and in-game ads

Scores are ranked on Game Services leaderboards, and progress is recorded as achievements.

The game shows ads. The developer says it shares the device's advertising ID with advertising networks so the ads can be targeted to personal preferences.
