Booking.com: Hotels & Travel

A hotel and holiday rental booking app

Booking.com is a booking app for accommodation that also sells flights, rental cars and taxis. It is listed under Travel & Local and suits people who want their stays and getting around arranged in one place. The stays on offer run from hotels to apartments, homes, villas and ryokan, and the app holds millions of accommodations to search through.

Filtering stays and choosing a property

Filters narrow the search by property type and other criteria, so a traveller can get from millions of listings to a short list. The app's listing pages let you message the property directly before you book, which is useful for questions about a room or arrival time.

Free cancellation is offered at most properties, so a booking can often be changed without penalty if plans shift. The listing describes this as a common option rather than a guarantee on every stay.

Booking flights, car rentals and taxis

Flights, rental cars and taxis can be booked in the same app as accommodation, so one account holds the whole itinerary. The developer says there are no booking or credit card fees on these reservations. Mobile-only discounts are also listed, available only through the app.

Managing reservations on the go

Each reservation comes with a paperless confirmation, so there is no need to print anything at check-in. Bookings can be changed from the phone wherever you are. Customer service is available 24/7 in more than 40 languages, which is the developer's stated coverage.

Local attractions and travel community forums

The app suggests local attractions to help plan what to do at a destination. The Travel Communities forums let travellers share their own experiences and ask for local advice from other people.
