What BUBBLE BOBBLE classic is and who it suits
BUBBLE BOBBLE classic is an action game in which you play Bubblun, who traps enemies inside bubbles. The developer describes it as a classic arcade game, and it is organised as a series of stages.
Players who want short arcade runs built around shooting and timing are the people it describes. Each stage asks you to clear every enemy, and the pace rises if you take too long.
Moving, jumping and firing bubbles
You move left and right across the screen, using a fire button to shoot bubbles and a jump button to climb and reposition. The listing says bubbles are fired automatically, so you do not need to tap for every shot.
Enemies are trapped inside the bubbles you blow, and you can then pop them. The aim is to clear each stage with the controls kept to the two buttons.
Extra lives, bonus food and the timer
Collecting the letters E, X, T, E, N and D in order gives an extra life. Once every enemy on a stage is defeated, bonus food items appear: hamburger, hot-dog, sushi, banana and ice cream, each adding points.
If you do not clear a stage within a set time, skull monsters appear and chase you. The timer is the pressure that the bonus food rewards you for beating.
Candy and shoe power-ups
Four power-up items change how Bubblun plays. Yellow candy speeds up how quickly bubbles are blown, and pink candy widens their range. Blue candy makes bubbles fly faster, and red shoes speed up Bubblun's own movement.
The effects stack with each other, so picking up several items during a stage changes the way you fire and move through it.
Super game, achievements and display settings
A Super game becomes available once the normal game has been cleared. The listing lists achievements and a leaderboard as supported, so progress can be compared and tracked.
In the settings you can switch between the original screen aspect ratio and a full-screen layout.
