Callan Method eBooks and Callan Student Practice Area
By Mei-Lin Chua
Contributing editor, apps and storefronts
The app is limited to students at Callan Accredited Schools. Students use it to listen to audio books and read eBooks that they have bought through their school.
The eBooks and audio books belong to the Callan Method courses, which cover General English, Business English, Children's English and General Spanish. The app is a companion to those courses rather than a standalone language course.
Audio books play back the course material for listening practice. The eBooks let you read the same course text on the phone.
Access depends on the book having been bought at your school, so the library you see is the one tied to your enrolment.
The Question and Answer section lets you record your own spoken answers. You can then listen back to them.
The listing says the practice area can be used wherever you are, so the recordings do not depend on being in a classroom.
The Dictations section is for practising written English or Spanish from spoken prompts. The Exercises section lets you test what you know without a teacher marking it in the moment.
Together with the recordings, these three sections make up the Callan Student Practice Area, covering speaking, writing and self-assessment.
To get access, ask the reception at your school to register you. If you are not yet a Callan student, the listing points to callan.co.uk/find-our-schools/ to locate a nearby school.
One-to-one lessons are not part of the app. The listing directs learners to callanonline.com for them.
The build we hold is Callan App 5.3.0 (APKS split bundle) for Android 6.0 and up.
