A Musicolet add-on with no app icon

Cast Plug-in for Musicolet is an extension for the Musicolet music player. The listing describes it as a plug-in rather than a stand-alone app, so there is no icon for it in the app drawer or on the home screen. You reach it through Musicolet itself, where it adds one extra control.

Its job is to send the music Musicolet is playing to a Google Chromecast, so the sound comes from the Chromecast instead of the phone. It is aimed at people who already use Musicolet and have a Chromecast.

Casting from the Now playing screen

The Cast button sits on the Now playing screen, which is the second tab in Musicolet. Tapping it opens a list of the Chromecast devices on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Choose one, and Musicolet starts sending your music to that device.

Only devices on the network your phone is connected to appear in the list, so the phone and the Chromecast need to share a Wi-Fi network first.

Where the Cast button comes from

The Cast button only appears once you have bought Pro features inside Musicolet. You buy them from the menu under Help and info, in the Get pro features entry. Musicolet 5 or later has to be installed, because the plug-in runs inside it.

The conditions for Pro features are listed on the same menu page, under Conditions. Read them there before you buy.

Musicolet users with a Chromecast at home

The plug-in suits someone who already listens to Musicolet on a phone and has a Chromecast on the home Wi-Fi. Anyone without a Chromecast on that network has no device to choose from in the list.

Because it sits inside Musicolet, it is best thought of as a way to send the player's music to a Chromecast, not as a separate media app with its own library or controls.
