What Cek Pajak Kendaraan checks and who it suits
Anyone about to buy a second-hand car or motorbike in Indonesia has one practical question: what is the vehicle's tax status? Cek Pajak Kendaraan is built to answer that from a police number (nomor polisi), for the provinces it currently covers.
The developer describes the app as a tool for checking vehicle tax and plate numbers, and for nothing beyond that. The listing names used-vehicle purchases as the situation it is meant for.
Because each lookup depends on a regional public data service, the results are only as complete as that source. The developer says data completeness differs from one region to another.
Looking up vehicle tax by police number
The core function takes a police number and shows the vehicle's tax information, drawn from the public information service of the relevant provincial Bapenda. Tax status and plate-related data are the stated purpose of the lookup.
Some regions may fail to show data because of technical problems. When that happens, the listing directs the user to the regional agency's own website, where the same check can be made directly.
A status check before handover is the use the listing describes. A buyer can run the number before paying, then confirm the result on the agency site if the app returns nothing.
Provinces covered and the regional sources behind them
The lookup currently covers West Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and Lampung.
The listing also names the public information services it draws on. These include agencies in DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Jambi, South Kalimantan, NTB and North Sumatra, alongside the provinces above.
Each source is a regional agency website, so what the app returns follows what that site publishes.
Plate codes for every province
A separate menu, labelled Kode Plat in the listing, shows vehicle plate codes for the whole of Indonesia. This covers more ground than the tax lookup, which is limited to the provinces above.
Plate codes are the letters at the start of a police number, so this menu is where to look up what a given code stands for when reading a plate.
Unofficial status, data sources and where to confirm
The listing states that the app is not an official government product. It is not affiliated with, represented by or supported by Bapenda, Samsat or the Indonesian National Police, and it presents its output as information only.
Data comes from public information services run by provincial Bapenda offices and Samsat Yogyakarta. The developer warns that some regions may not display data because of technical faults, and that completeness varies by area.
For official records, the listing points users to the agency websites and to the nearest Samsat office.
