A file manager for phone, TV and cloud

File Commander is a file manager and explorer for the files on your device, in cloud accounts and on a local network (LAN). The developer aims it at people who want to organize, protect or hide their photos, videos, music and documents.

A separate version for Android TV manages the storage on the TV itself. The app also includes a built-in audio and video player that works on phone, tablet and TV.

Finding photos, music and documents from one panel

The Home screen sorts files into categories such as Pictures, Downloads, Music, Video and Documents. You can customize that panel to suit how you work.

The same categories reach files on external drives, cloud accounts and LAN connections, not only on the device. Media can be played directly from the app.

Hiding and locking private photos and videos

The Vault hides and encrypts files. The listing says it is built for personal photos and videos, and it opens with a PIN, fingerprint or password.

The developer describes the Vault as using a zero-knowledge encryption model.

MobiDrive and other cloud drives

Every account includes 5GB of free MobiDrive cloud storage. The Premium plan raises that to 50GB. MobiDrive supports sharing files and folders and offers offline access to MobiDrive files without an internet connection.

The app also manages Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business and Box from one place. You can explore those drives and transfer files between them without downloading and re-uploading them.

Cleanup, recovery and file conversion

Storage Analyzer shows which files take up the most space and suggests which to delete or move to another storage location. Files and folders deleted from internal storage or an SD card go to a Recycle Bin, where they can be restored.

The file converter turns incompatible audio and video files into mp3, mp4, WMV, MOV and other playable formats, and turns PDFs into images or documents. PC File Transfer moves files in both directions between a computer and Android over home Wi-Fi.
