What the app is for and who uses it
FoilSnap is a trading card app built around a camera. You photograph a card, and the app works out which card it is and shows you what it is worth. The listing aims it at people who have just come across a box of cards, at collectors adding to a set, and at traders who need a quick price.
Most of its features run from that first photo. Identification, pricing, grading guidance and saving to a collection all start from a scan, so a card can move from a shoebox to a tracked inventory in one session.
Identifying a card from a photo
Point the camera at a card and the app matches it to a record. The listing says this covers the issuing game, the year, the card type and the card's background story, so you get more than a name.
This is useful when a card has no clear printed identifier, or when you want to know which game or era a card belongs to before you look it up elsewhere.
Market value and condition grading
Each identified card comes with a market price, which the listing describes as trusted. You can use it to tell a common card from a rarer one before you buy, sell or store it.
The app also offers grading recommendations on three levels: Good, Near Mint and Mint. Since the value of a card depends heavily on its condition, the grade is what a price is applied to, so the two work together when you estimate what a card is worth.
Keeping a collection and learning the hobby
Scanned cards can be saved to a digital inventory. The app keeps a running total of the collection's value and shows how the collection grows over time, which helps if you track a set or a portfolio across many cards.
The app also includes articles on collector tips, beginner guides and deck building, for people who want to learn the hobby or build a deck alongside the scanning and pricing.
