What Gacha Club is and who it suits

Gacha Club combines a character maker, a scene builder and a battle game built around gacha, the pull-to-collect system. You design anime-style characters first, then use them in scenes or in battles against the units you collect.

It suits players who enjoy dressing up characters and collecting them. The developer lists it under Simulation and rates it for ages 12 and up.

Designing and dressing anime characters

You customize 10 main characters and 90 extra characters, changing colors on almost all items, adjusting hair, eyes and items to fit each one, and choosing from hundreds of pets and objects. Each character can have its own custom profile.

You can import and export characters with friends. The developer says customization is free and the game has no in-app purchases.

Building scenes in Studio mode

Studio mode places up to 10 characters anywhere on screen, along with pets, objects, backgrounds and foregrounds. Characters can talk through custom text boxes, and a narrator can be added for storytelling scenes.

You can save and load up to 15 scenes, and face presets let you change a character's face quickly.

Collecting units and fighting in four modes

Gacha pulls give you over 180 battle units and 150 pets, which raise your stats. Corrupted and DJ characters are listed as the rarest.

Materials are used to enhance units, awaken them and raise their skill levels. Battles run in four modes: Story, Training, Tower and Shadows of Corruption.

Mini-games, gems and offline play

Mini-games such as Usagi vs Neko and Mascot Whack earn gems and bytes, which are spent on gacha pulls for more characters. The developer says gems can be collected through play.

The game runs offline, so no Wi-Fi connection is needed to play.
