What Garmin Connect is and who it suits
Garmin Connect runs on a phone and works alongside Garmin hardware. The listing names Forerunner, Venu and fēnix watches as examples, plus other compatible Garmin devices. Once a device is paired, the app shows what it has tracked.
The listing presents it for people training for a race, people who want to stay active, and people who keep an eye on general health. Most of what it does depends on a paired Garmin device.
Reviewing activities and health trends
Recorded activities open to detailed statistics. The listing does not break these down further, so the depth of the figures is only as described by the developer.
Health metrics are kept as trends over time. The listing names heart rate, steps, sleep, stress, menstrual cycle, weight and calories, so a person can look at how these change week to week rather than only at a single day's reading.
Building custom workouts and courses
The app lets you create customized workouts and build courses. These are plans you set up in the app, and the listing says they can be used with a paired Garmin device.
Courses are routes you lay out ahead of time. The listing does not say more about how they are drawn or shared.
Home screen, badges and friend leaderboards
The home screen can be personalized so the information you care about most appears first. This is a layout choice you make, not a fixed dashboard.
Badges are awarded for accomplishments, and you can challenge friends on a leaderboard. Both rely on the app's social side, so they only apply if you have friends using it.
Syncing with MyFitnessPal and Strava
Garmin Connect can sync with other fitness apps, and the listing names MyFitnessPal and Strava as examples. This lets data from the Garmin side appear in those apps.
The listing also says the app provides support for Garmin devices and their features, with more information on Garmin.com.
