This page needs its stylesheet to be shown
The app listing, the version table and the download step are laid out by this site’s stylesheet. With stylesheets switched off, or blocked before they arrive, none of that layout exists, so the page is not shown.

The world is closer than ever with over 100 languages

Google Translate is a Google translation app that handles typed text, images, photos, handwriting and spoken conversation. Typed translation covers 108 languages, which makes it useful for reading a menu or letter in another language or for talking with someone who speaks a different one.
Most of its modes share the same translation engine, so the same language list applies across them. Each mode differs mainly in how the text reaches the app: typed, copied, drawn, photographed, or spoken.
The build we hold is Google Translate 10.40.63.1001155243.6-release (APK) for Android 8.0 and up.

Typing gives translation between 108 languages. Tap to Translate works outside the app: you copy text in any other app, then tap the Google Translate icon to translate it, in all supported languages.
Handwriting mode lets you draw characters on screen instead of typing them, for 96 languages. This suits scripts and characters that are slow to type on a phone keyboard.
Instant camera translation reads text in the camera's view and translates it as you point the phone, for 94 languages. It is aimed at signs, labels and menus where you want the answer without taking a picture first.
Photos mode works on an image you take in the app or import from your gallery. The listing says this produces higher quality translations, and it covers 90 languages.
Conversations mode translates a back-and-forth exchange between two people who speak different languages, for 70 languages.
Transcribe keeps translating someone who is speaking, in near real-time, for 8 languages. The listing describes it as continuous, so it runs while the other person talks rather than waiting for them to finish.
Offline translation works with no internet connection for 59 languages, so you can translate without mobile data or Wi-Fi once the offline data is in place.
Phrasebook lets you star translated words and phrases and save them for later, for all languages. Syncing the phrasebook between the phone app and the desktop version requires you to log in.
