This page needs its stylesheet to be shown
The app listing, the version table and the download step are laid out by this site’s stylesheet. With stylesheets switched off, or blocked before they arrive, none of that layout exists, so the page is not shown.

Track your Android devices with GpsGate Server
Senior reviews editor
GpsGate Tracker runs on an Android phone or tablet and reports its position to a GpsGate Server. It does nothing useful on its own, because the server is where the tracks are collected and viewed. The listing says it requires GpsGate Server to work, so it suits people who already operate a GpsGate Server or whose organisation does.
Most of the setup is handled from the server side. The listing says the GpsGate Server administrator configures the app automatically, which leaves little for the person carrying the device to set by hand.
The app moves between GPS and estimated location without a manual switch. The listing does not describe how the estimated location is worked out, only that the app falls back to it and returns to GPS as the device allows.
If the tracks look jagged, the listing suggests setting the device to Device Only mode for GPS in the Location area of Android's Settings app. That setting tells Android to use the GPS receiver alone rather than network-based positioning.
Tracking works both while the device has a connection and while it does not. The listing states support for both modes but gives no detail on how many positions are held or how they are sent once the connection returns.
This matters for vehicles, field staff or any device that passes through areas without signal, since the track is not lost when coverage drops.
Motion tracking is the feature the listing ties to battery life. When the device is not moving, the app reduces how much it tracks, which the developer says saves power.
The listing gives no figures for how much battery is saved, so the effect will depend on how long the device stays still during a given day.
The app is localised into English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Finnish, Turkish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Polish and Hungarian. Anyone using it in one of those languages will see the interface in their own language.
Because the administrator sets the app up remotely, a device user typically installs it and has the server configuration applied without entering server details themselves.
The build we hold is GpsGate Tracker 1.0.212 (APKS split bundle) for Android 5.0 and up.
