What hvv switch covers in Hamburg
hvv switch is a Hamburg app that puts public transport and shared mobility under one account. The developer lists eight providers in total, spanning local transit, timetables, e-scooters, bike sharing, ride services and car sharing. It is aimed at people who get around Hamburg by several means and want one place to plan, pay and book.
Public transport is the core of the app. You choose a connection by bus, train or ferry and buy the matching hvv ticket from the same screen. The rest of the app adds rental and on-demand options alongside it.
Buying hvv and Deutschlandticket tickets
Regular commuters can buy the hvv Deutschlandticket directly in the app. The listing says it covers regular journeys in Hamburg and across Germany. A separate Deutschlandticket for senior citizens aged 67 and over is also available, for those living in Hamburg.
Ticket purchases and connection searches sit alongside the timetable, so a route and its ticket can be handled in one place.
Renting cars, e-scooters and bikes
Cars can be rented through Free2move, SIXT share, MILES or Cambio, all from within the app. For shorter trips, Voi e-scooters and StadtRAD bikes are available to rent. These are the options for filling gaps that transit does not cover, such as the last part of a journey.
Each service is reached through the same app and the same account, so a car, scooter or bike booking sits next to your tickets and timetable.
Booking MOIA shuttles and setting up the home screen
MOIA on-demand shuttles can be booked in the app. The home screen can be customised, so the things you use most (tickets, timetable, car sharing, e-scooters, bikes and MOIA shuttles) can be placed where you want them.
One account is needed to use the app's services. Once signed in, transit and shared mobility are all managed from one place rather than through separate apps for each provider.
