A mobile flight simulator built around jumbo jets
Jumbo Jet Flight Simulator is a flight simulator for phones and tablets, built around six large commercial airliners. The developer says its flight model uses Airfoil physics. It is aimed at people who want to work through airliner systems rather than fly arcade-style.
The content falls into three parts: the aircraft themselves, a set of disaster missions, and the controls and instruments on the panel. Free fly mode and the cockpit view sit alongside them.
Six airliners from the 747 to the A380
The aircraft are the Boeing 747, Airbus A380, Boeing 777, Airbus A310, Lockheed L-1011 TriStar and Ilyushin Il-86. The A380 is listed with a seating capacity of 525, four turbofan engines and a range of 14,800 km. More than 1,500 747s were built over a span of 50 years.
The 777 is described as the first Boeing aircraft with fly-by-wire controls. The Il-86 and the TriStar are included with production figures of 100+ and 250 built.
Disaster missions based on real air crashes
Disaster missions are based on real-life air crashes in which a major malfunction disables the aircraft. The aim is to fly the damaged jet back to a safe landing, or to keep fighting for control if the odds are against you.
Controls, instruments and warnings on the panel
The control systems include ailerons for roll, elevators for pitch and the rudder for yaw. They also cover flaps, spoilers, trim, reverse thrust, asymmetric thrust on the engines, autopilot, brakes and landing gear.
The instruments show altitude, airspeed, attitude, heading, vertical speed, turn and slip/skid. Five warning systems flag a stall, bank angle, terrain, the landing gear and a master caution.
Free fly, weather and the cockpit view
Free fly mode lets you fly without a mission. Day and night cycles and dynamic weather change the conditions you fly in, and a cockpit view puts you in the seat for the flight.
