What Chinesimple HSK6 is for
Learn Chinese Chinesimple HSK6 is a study app from Khanji School for Mandarin learners working at HSK 6, the sixth and final level of the HSK series. The listing presents it as a place to practise understanding Chinese you read and hear, then restating it in your own words. It is aimed at learners at that level, and at people preparing for the HSK 6 exam.
Most of the practice is built around full sentences. Each one comes with English explanations that help you follow longer sentences and keep track of who did or said what. From there the app moves into listening, a dictionary and flashcards, so a single sentence can be used for several kinds of practice.
Reading and listening at HSK 6 level
The reading exercises focus on sentences where the meaning depends on small words. One example in the listing turns on a word meaning milestone and a pronoun that shows who made the judgement. Another uses a construction meaning are known as to show what a group is called. The English notes point these out so you can check whether you caught them.
The listening practice uses a native speaker reading the sentence without the text on screen. The listing suggests listening once to get the main event, then again for how the speaker described it. If a word stops you, you can look it up and listen again before going back to the whole sentence.
Retelling a story in Chinese
After the reading and listening, the app asks you to tell the same news to a friend in Chinese. The task is to say what happened, add who described it and how, and keep all three details. You can use two sentences if that is easier.
The listing also suggests adding expressions you recognise on the page but cannot yet use in speech to your flashcard deck. The aim is to move passive recognition towards speaking.
Dictionary lookups, flashcards and characters
When you meet an unfamiliar word, the listing points you to a Chinese dictionary. Each entry shows the pronunciation, the pinyin and an example sentence, so you can hear the word and see it used before returning to the sentence.
Words and expressions go into flashcard decks, which use spaced repetition to bring them back at longer intervals over time. For characters you mix up, the app suggests looking at the stroke order of one of them, writing it yourself and finding it again in the original sentence.
Picking up daily study and tracking progress
The home flow works around what to do next. Daily practice suggests the next module or a short revision session, so you can either continue the course or spend a few minutes on older material.
The app tracks your progress and shows how many days in a row you have studied, which gives you a running count to keep up.
Preparing for the HSK 6 exam
For exam preparation, the app provides vocabulary, sentences and exercises from HSK 6. The examples in the listing use the same kind of question as the reading practice: which sentence names the person who made a judgement, and which one only describes a label.
Because the vocabulary, sentence practice, audio and flashcards all sit in one app, the same material can be reviewed in different ways before a test.
