A League of Legends roguelite and card battler

Legends of Runeterra offers two ways to play. One is a single-player roguelite that follows a story across Runeterra, the world of League of Legends and the Arcane series. The other is a ranked card battler where you build strategy around your champion's abilities.

The listing sets the story in places such as the back alleys of Zaun and the frozen north, with the dragon Aurelion Sol and Lissandra as the main threats. It is aimed at fans of League and Arcane, and at players who enjoy hero collecting and card games.

Roguelite runs, upgrades and new cards

Each run offers new cards, powers and relics that you can add to your strategy. Challenges get harder as a run goes on, and they also rise from one World Adventure to the next, so the choices you make early on matter later.

Between runs you can unlock Star Powers, which the developer describes as permanent augments for a champion. Completing a champion's Constellation adds further power and new strategies.

Collecting and playing 65+ champions

The game lists more than 65 champions, including Jinx, Warwick, Caitlyn, Vi and Ambessa. You unlock and level up characters as you go, and you can collect, evolve and master them while you travel the map of Runeterra.

Each champion plays differently. The listing gives Ashe as a freezing champion, Teemo as one who lays fungal traps for ambushes, and Heimerdinger as one who builds combo engines for large finishing turns.

World Adventures and Weekly Nightmares

Story fights against iconic villains take place in World Adventures and Weekly Nightmares. The developer says beating stronger foes such as Lissandra and Aurelion Sol takes experimentation, planning and some luck, and that tougher opponents bring richer rewards.

These modes sit alongside the roguelite runs, so the same champions and upgrades carry into the harder fights.

Lore, card art and exclusive characters

The developer ties the game to League of Legends lore and to the Emmy-winning series Arcane. It includes exclusive characters, story-driven adventures and card art that the listing calls a central part of the experience.
