What Teamfight Tactics is and who it suits
Teamfight Tactics is a multiplayer auto battler in which eight players fight in a free-for-all, each building a team that fights on its own. You draft champions, place them on the board and adjust between rounds, and the last player still standing wins. The listing points to strategy players who enjoy planning compositions and reacting to what the other seven players are doing.
The game is rated PEGI 16 and is set in the TFT Convergence, a dimension the developer says is redesigned with each new set.
Drafting champions and positioning units
Champions come from a pool that every player in the match draws from, so picks compete with the other seven players. You choose units, decide where to place them and change course when a pick goes badly or a late opportunity appears. The listing says hundreds of team combinations are possible, which means two matches rarely begin from the same plan.
Game-changing events arrive during play and can shift the board, so a team built early may need reworking mid-round.
Sets with new themes and mechanics
Each new set brings a different theme and a different set of mechanics. The developer's examples include magical academies, kaiju-infested cities and music festivals, so the setting and the rules that go with it change over time.
Because the mechanics are replaced with each set, a strategy that works in one set may not carry over to the next.
Playing with friends and ranked matchmaking
You can queue with friends and challenge them, and the listing states that the game runs across PC, Mac and mobile. Competitive play uses PvP matchmaking, and the ranked ladder runs from Iron up to Challenger.
Ranked rewards are given at the end of every set. Reaching the top of the ladder is the stated goal of the competitive mode.
Cosmetics: Little Legends, booms, finishers and portals
Little Legend companions can be shown on the battlefield. Attacks can use booms and finishers, and portals let units move across the board in a showy way. These are cosmetic options that change how a match looks rather than how it plays, according to the listing.
Players can unlock new looks through the Pass or Pass+, or buy them directly in the TFT store.
