LotusLamp X is the professional version of the LotusLanternX app. Its main job is to run several kinds of LED light from a single phone app, so one controller handles a strip on a desk, a bulb in a room and the lights fitted inside a vehicle.
It is aimed at people who already own this kind of lighting and want one place to control it, rather than a separate app for each product.
The app supports RGB strips, RGBIC strips, bulbs and in-vehicle RGB lights. Each type is controlled from the same app, so switching between a room and a car does not mean switching tools.
For each light you adjust colour and brightness. Colour is set per light, and brightness can be lowered or raised without changing the colour.
Beyond a fixed colour, the app offers dynamic modes that change the light on their own. Rhythm styles then control how the lights move in time with sound, so the same playback can produce different looks.
These settings are the main way to get animated lighting without setting every colour by hand.
The app lists three ways to drive the lights from sound. The first plays music files stored on the phone and matches the lights to them. The other two pick up sound through a microphone, either the phone's own or one on the device.
Using a microphone means the lights can react to any nearby sound, not only a track loaded into the app.
