What MAWAQIT covers
MAWAQIT is a prayer and mosque app for Muslims who want to follow a particular mosque. Its prayer times come from the timetable that mosque publishes, and the listing contrasts this with other apps that give approximate times. Beyond prayer times it covers Ramadan timings, the Qibla, a directory of mosques and their news.
The listing says the app is free and carries no ads. It is run as a non-profit project and describes itself as open source.
Daily prayer times and reminders
Prayer times are shown for Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Maghrib and Isha, along with the iqamah times the imam sets. You can choose from several muezzin voices for the azan. Pre-prayer notifications and alarms can also be set for suhoor, sunrise, sunset and iftar.
The Qibla compass shows the direction to Mecca from wherever you are.
Ramadan timings and the Hijri calendar
During Ramadan the app shows imsak and iftar times. The calendar marks dates such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and it shows the Hijri date. Monthly and yearly Imsakiye timetables can be downloaded, shared or printed.
Finding and following mosques
Search covers mosques in more than 35 countries and works by location, name, city or address. Bookmarked mosques keep their prayer timetables updated in real time. Each mosque's page lists events and news, live streams of Jumu'ah, lessons and conferences, and messages from the imam or mosque managers.
The same pages show facilities such as ablution rooms and a women's space, services such as courses, Eid prayers and funeral prayers, and the mosque's contact details.
Giving, Quran and devices beyond the phone
Donations can go to a mosque's upkeep, to a building fund for the mosque, or as zakat and sadaqah to a Muslim charity. The app also lets you read and listen to the Quran. The home screen widget shows prayer times, the next prayer and the Hijri date.
On Wear OS the app adds watch complications and tiles for prayer times. The listing says Home Assistant is supported and lists Google Assistant as coming soon.
