MEC is a tool for teachers who need to enter their students' answers into the Continuous Learning Assessments 2024. The Ministry of Education runs these with the Centre for Public Policy and Educational Assessment at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (CAEd/UFJF). The developer says the aim is to make the assessments easier to administer and to reach as many students across Brazil as possible.
The listing describes the app as exclusively for teachers. Its main job is the answer-sheet reader, with a second function for the reading fluency tests added alongside it.
The answer-sheet reader (leitor de cartão-resposta) is the core function. A teacher uses it to capture the answers a student marked on the sheet and enter them into the assessment platform, so the results are recorded per student.
Readings are attached to the classes a teacher is linked to. Using the reader therefore depends on the teacher being registered on the platform first.
The app can also record a student's reading during the Fluência Leitora tests. The developer presents this as a support for running those tests, rather than a separate product.
The recording sits in the same teacher-only setting as the answer-sheet reader, so it is available only to teachers with a registered class.
Access is limited to teachers who are registered on the platform and linked to their own classes, according to the listing. Students and other users are not described as having an account in the app.
Because every function is tied to those class links, a teacher works only with the students in their own classes.
