What Meitu : Photo & Video Editor is built around
Most of what Meitu : Photo & Video Editor does starts with a face. Selfies, travel shots and group pictures are the material it is built for, and the tools are arranged so you can move from a raw photo to a finished post without leaving the app. The developer describes it as an all-in-one editor covering both stills and video.
The features fall into a few groups: AI editing for changing what is in a picture, beauty tools for skin and face, a camera with live effects, basic photo adjustments with collage and text, and video tools. Each group is a separate set of controls, so a person who only wants to clean up one photo can ignore most of the menus.
The app suits people who share photos often and want quick, visible changes more than fine manual control. It is aimed at casual and social use, which the developer frames around selfies and posts.
Removing objects and swapping backgrounds in photos
The object remover erases photobombers and other unwanted things from a picture. The developer describes this as a single tap. It is the tool most people would reach for when a stranger or a sign ends up in an otherwise good shot.
The background remover produces AI cutouts of a subject, which you can then place on a different backdrop. The blur background tool keeps the subject sharp and softens everything behind it, which the developer presents as a way to add depth to a flat photo. The two tools work well together for portraits: cut the person out, then either drop them onto a new scene or blur the original one.
Both cutout tools depend on the AI processing built into the app, and the developer lists them under the AI editor group alongside the other generative features.
Retouching skin and reshaping faces and bodies

Custom face shape lets you save a face you have set up and apply it again to other photos with one tap. That matters if you edit many pictures of the same person and want them to match.
Shooting selfies and video with live retouch and filters
The beauty camera applies retouching in real time while you take a selfie, so the result is already smoothed when you save it. The developer says no editing is needed afterward, which is the point of the feature.
The retro camera offers film and CCD looks, and the AI flash effect adds vintage camera tones and retro filters, which the developer says also work in low light. The filter library is large: the developer says it holds hundreds of trending filters for different moods.

Adjusting, enhancing and collaging photos

Editing video and Live Photos
The video retouch tool applies skin smoothing and face reshaping to video clips, and it works on Live Photos as well. This extends the beauty tools from still images to moving footage, so a clip can be treated the same way as a portrait.
The watermark remover takes watermarks and on-screen text out of videos in one pass, according to the developer. It is useful for footage that came from another app or site with its logo stamped on it.
Video editing here is limited to retouching and cleanup. The listing describes no timeline, trimming or multi-track editing, so the video side is best understood as a set of fixes applied to finished clips.
