Messages for Android is a text messaging app that can also handle your phone calls. It can be set as the default SMS and MMS app on an Android phone, so it takes over regular texts and picture messages. The developer pitches it at people who want texting, calls and their contacts in one place, whether they are sending a quick message or running a group chat.
Most of the app sits in two areas: a messaging side for texts and group conversations, and a call side that keeps a searchable log and a set of call statistics.
The build we hold is Messages For Android 5.7 (APKS split bundle) for Android 8.0 and up.

As the default SMS and MMS app, Messages for Android handles standard texts and multimedia messages. The listing says it supports group chats, and that it helps keep work and personal conversations separate. It also lists offline texting among its features.
The developer describes the messaging side as covering everything from simple one-to-one texts to secure messaging. The listing does not name specific encryption methods or other security details.
The call log shows incoming, outgoing, missed and rejected calls, each with its date, time and duration. You can search the history to find a particular call.
From the call log or a contact, you can place a call, send a message or block the contact. The app also shows recent activity for each contact, so you can see their latest calls and messages in one view.
Call Insights is a statistics section that tracks total calls, total talk time, average call duration and answer rate. The listing says these figures are broken down across different time periods, so you can compare how your calling changes over days, weeks or months.
The listing presents Call Insights as part of the calls side of the app. It does not say whether the statistics are shown in charts or lists.
