What this SMS and MMS app is for

Messages: Text, SMS & MMS is a messaging app for Android phones and tablets. It sends and receives SMS, MMS and plain text messages, which travel through your mobile carrier. The developer presents it as a replacement for the default texting app and describes it as free.

It is aimed at people who text friends, family and other contacts and want a different look or a few extra tools on top of ordinary texting.

Sending photos, videos, audio and emojis

You can attach photos, videos and audio files to a message, and add emojis to the text. The listing's summary also mentions voice messages as something you can send and receive.

Because media goes over MMS, it depends on your carrier and plan supporting multimedia messages.

Scheduling texts to send later

The message scheduler lets you write a text now and set the date and time it should go out. The app sends it automatically at that time, so you do not need to be holding the phone. The developer suggests it for birthdays and reminders you do not want to forget.

Scheduled sending is the only feature in the listing that acts on its own after you have left the conversation.

Replying and setting reminders after a call

When a call ends, the app can prompt you to reply to a message, set a reminder, or start a new message to the person you just spoke with. This means you can follow up on a call without switching apps.

The listing does not describe how the prompt is triggered beyond its occurrence after a call.

Changing themes, colors and day or night mode

You can choose a theme, set chat colors and pick background images for conversations. The app also switches between day and night display modes, so the screen can be darker in low light.

These settings change how the chats look. They do not change how messages are sent or delivered.
