MuseScore: Music Chords & Tabs

What MuseScore is for and who it suits

MuseScore is a sheet music library and score player for Android. It covers piano, guitar, violin, flute, trumpet, percussion and other instruments, with scores for solo players, ensembles, bands and orchestras.

Most of the use is for people learning or practising an instrument. Players who read notes can work through a score at their own pace, and guitarists can read tabs and chord charts in the same place.

Finding and saving scores

Scores are grouped by genre, including classical, pop, rock, jazz, anime, movie soundtracks and game music. You can also browse by instrument, so a flute player sees flute parts rather than the whole catalogue.

Scores you like go into a personal library for quick access. Downloading scores to use without a connection is listed as a MuseScore PRO feature.

Practising a piece bar by bar

The score player lets you change the tempo and loop a section, so a hard passage can be repeated until it sits right. Practice can also be set to move one bar at a time.

A built-in metronome keeps you in time while you play. Auto-scroll moves the score along as you go, so you do not need a hand free to turn pages.

For ensemble work, you can set the volume of each instrument and show or hide individual parts.

Following notes on a keyboard and transposing

An on-screen piano keyboard lights up the notes in the score. This helps with note reading and matching pitches, especially for people working on piano.

Scores can be transposed into any key. This is useful when a piece sits too high or low for your voice or instrument.

Exporting scores to PDF, MIDI and MP3

A score can be exported as a PDF for printing, as a MIDI file for use in other music software, or as an MP3 for listening away from the app.
