What the game is and who it suits

This is a toddler game built around the caterpillar from Eric Carle's picture book. The listing aims it at preschoolers and also at fans of the book of any age.

You start with an egg, tap it, and watch it hatch. From there the play is about looking after the caterpillar, which you do by feeding him and taking care of him.

Feeding and growing the caterpillar

Feeding him is the core loop. As he grows, the game opens new activities, which the listing names as growing flowers, sorting shapes, painting pictures, picking fruit, sailing with rubber ducks and goldfish, digging for buried treasure and pushing him on a swing.

When he needs rest, you tuck him under a leaf to sleep.

Caring for him until he becomes a butterfly

If you keep caring for him, he forms a cocoon. Tapping the cocoon helps him change into a butterfly.

The listing presents this stage as a way to build nurturing habits and an interest in nature. When a new egg appears, the cycle starts again.

Exploring the character, scenes and sound

Outside the feeding routine, you can pick him up, help him explore, and open a colorful toy box. The character is shown in 3D, and the scenes are based on Eric Carle's hand-painted collage style.

The listing describes the music as charming and the controls as intuitive for young children, and it describes the play as individual and non-competitive.
