Setting up direct deposit to the account lets government benefits arrive up to 5 days early and a paycheck up to 2 days faster, according to the listing. These timings apply once direct deposit is set up, so the account needs to be receiving deposits before the early access begins.

Overdraft protection with a 24-hour grace period

Debit Card Overdraft Protection is optional and covers up to $300. If the balance drops below zero, the account allows 24 hours to bring it back to positive, which the listing says avoids overdraft fees.

The feature is tied to debit card spending, so it applies when purchases on the card would overdraw the balance.

Savings interest and adding cash at reload locations

The optional Netspend Savings Account pays up to 6.00% annual percentage yield, per the listing. Funds can be added in person at any of more than 130,000 locations nationwide that belong to the Netspend Network.
