What the NLT Bible app is for

NLT Bible App by Olive Tree is a Bible reader and study library from Gospel Technologies, built around the New Living Translation. It is aimed at people who want to read Scripture alongside research material such as commentaries, maps and language tools.

The developer describes it as a source of thousands of resources, some free and some paid. Those resources sit around the Bible text itself, so a reader can move from the passage to supporting material without leaving the app.

Reading the Bible offline, with audio

According to the listing, you do not need a WiFi connection to reach the Bible, the audio Bible or the other study tools. The developer presents this as the main reason to use it away from a network.

The audio Bible is listed as one of the resources, so the same text can be listened to as well as read.

Commentaries, maps and study Bibles

The library includes commentaries, Bible maps and study Bibles. These are the usual reference works for working out the context of a passage, and the app puts them in the same place as the translation.

Some of these resources are paid and others are free, so what a reader can open depends on which titles they choose to get.

Reading plans, devotionals and ebooks

Reading plans give a structured route through the Bible, and devotionals offer shorter reflective readings. The listing also includes ebooks and audiobooks in the same library.

These sit beside the study tools rather than in a separate section, so a plan, a devotional and a commentary can be used together on the same passage.

Greek and Hebrew tools and study pack subscriptions

The app includes Greek and Hebrew tools for readers who want to look at the original languages of the text. The listing does not describe these in more detail.

Bible Study Pack Subscriptions bundle hand-picked study tools with guided training. They are sold as subscriptions, so access to a pack depends on keeping that subscription active.
