Car diagnostics over Bluetooth for owners and workshops
OBD Scanner ELM327: GaragePro is a diagnostic app that pairs with an OBD2 adapter over Bluetooth and reads a vehicle's computer systems. The developer aims it at car owners, repair shops and home mechanics, and says it covers cars, motorcycles and heavy vehicles. Its listed scope is 200 or more diagnostic functions.
The developer says it works with generic ELM327 adapters and other common OBD2 scanners. It names VGate, OBDLink, Veepeak and Carista as recommended adapters, along with its own GaragePro scanner.
Reading fault codes and clearing check engine lights
The app reads trouble codes from the engine, airbag (SRS), ABS, body control module (BCM), power steering (EPS), transmission, climate control (HVAC) and the instrument cluster. It also lists trouble codes with explanations, so a code arrives with a description rather than a bare number.
After a repair, the app can clear the stored codes and turn off the check engine light. It also supports the OBD2 service modes 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 09 and 0A. Mode 06 covers test results for sensors, catalysts, EGR, EVAP and misfire data per cylinder. Freeze frame data, VIN, calibration ID, smog checks and service or oil resets are also listed.
Live sensor data, graphs and Excel export
Live data covers more than 100 sensor readings in real time, including RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temperature and fuel trim. The readings can be shown as graphs or on customizable displays. The developer says you can export the recorded data to Excel for your own analysis.
A track mode times acceleration runs for 0-60, 0-80 and 0-100 and beyond. The developer says it is set up for accurate acceleration figures when track mode is switched on.
Special functions and service resets
Beyond reading codes, the app lists special functions. These include injector coding, DPF regeneration, throttle reset, ABS brake bleeding, steering angle reset, power balance, fuel density reset, learning value reset, actuation tests, AC control module reset, indicator light reset, brake pedal position sensor learning, and light and door customizations. The developer says which of these apply depends on the car, so the app shows the list for each vehicle.
Higher functions are in paid plans that start at $10. Scanning and live data are free.
Sharing reports and getting support
A scan can be saved as a PDF listing each code with its description. The developer suggests sending it to a technician or customer, or keeping it to compare with later scans. Email and chat support are available to customers, and the developer lists fix@carpm.in as the contact address.
For motorcycles, the developer says a connecting cable is needed between the 16-pin scanner and the bike's OBD port. Bike diagnostics listed include trouble code reading and deletion, live data streams and freeze frame data.
