What PDF Reader & Editor covers

PDF Reader & Editor is a general PDF app. It opens reports, forms, contracts, study files and eBooks, and it adds tools for marking them up, scanning paper, converting other file types and keeping a set of documents in order.

The developer lists it for work documents, study material, forms, receipts and eBooks. The same app covers all of these, so a receipt scan and a contract review sit in the same library.

Reading long files and finding text

You can read a document with continuous scrolling, or move one page at a time. Zoom goes in for small print, and full-screen mode removes the surrounding controls. A light or dark page display is also available.

To find something in a long file, search the text inside the document. You can also jump straight to a chosen page number, which saves scrolling through a long eBook or a report.

Marking up pages and reviewing contracts

The markup tools let you highlight selected text, add comments, insert notes and draw directly on a page. The listing describes these as a way to review documents and flag important parts for later reference.

For a contract or a set of study notes, that means the markup stays with the file itself. The listing does not say how markups are stored or exported separately, so check that part against the features as you use them.

Scanning paper and converting files to PDF

The scanner uses the device camera to capture printed pages and save them as PDF files. The listing names receipts, handwritten notes, books and forms as typical uses. Once a page is captured, the scanner detects its edges to help you crop it.

Converting works the other way. Images become PDF documents, and the listing names Word and Excel among the supported formats that convert to PDF. Converted files are saved alongside your other PDFs, ready to view, organise or share.

Keeping a library of PDFs in order

The file manager lists saved documents and sorts them by name, size or the date they were last opened. You can rename files and delete ones you no longer need. The listing presents this as a way to keep office files, study material, scans and eBooks easy to find.

Two utilities sit alongside this. You can merge several PDFs into a single file, or split one PDF into separate documents. Finished files can be shared by email, through messaging apps or to cloud storage services.
