Peasant to King: Medieval Sim

A medieval farming and trade game

Peasant to King starts you as a serf working a small plot of land. The game is split into ranks, and each rank sets new goals on the way toward kingdom management. Early play is mostly working the fields by hand. Later, the work moves toward running production, trade and expansion.

It suits people who like economy and farm sims that grow from a single plot into something much larger. Most of the game is about planning what to grow, store and sell.

Ploughing, sowing and harvesting by hand

Early on, you drag tools onto your fields to plough, sow, water and harvest. The crops you bring in can be sold, and the money goes into better equipment. Over time that money also pays for workers and automation.

Upgrades come in three kinds: better tools, more fields and larger storage. Storage matters because harvests have to be kept until they are sold or used.

Selling crops at shifting market prices

Market prices change over time, and you decide when to sell your goods. Holding a harvest back until prices rise is a choice the game leaves to you. Profits can be reinvested in production and in the next stage of expansion.

Mining, smelting and weapon production

Once you can hire workers, the estate grows beyond farming. The game adds mining, smelting and weapon production as parts of the economy. Production, storage and spending all have to be balanced as the estate gets bigger.

Resource management becomes a larger part of play as these chains expand.

Trading fleet and maritime contracts

You can build a trading fleet, take on maritime contracts and trade with other kingdoms. Sea trade is presented as the next step after the market, with profits from voyages feeding back into production.
